Through the challenges and rewards of caring for an older relative, it often helps to hear from other families: the obstacles they have faced and what pulled them through the hard times. Below are some stories from people who have dealt with situations perhaps similar to your own.

Breath of Fresh Air
We have been using Agape Care for a number of years now for our special needs aunt that lives with us. Having used other services in the past with other family members I found Agape Care to be a breath of fresh air.
With other services we had our issues of caregivers not showing up at their scheduled times, caregivers stealing and sometimes caregiver apathy. My experience with Agape Care has been totally different. The caregivers have shown up in the middle of blizzards and were ready to serve their shifts. I now get up early and tell them not to come if the roads are hazardous.
Although they provide non-medical services for us, caregivers schedule and transport our special needs family member to almost all of her appointments. The doctors have even gotten to know them by name. The caregivers provided to us by Agape Care are friendly, professional, and respectful. The agency has saved us a lot of time and money over the years since I no longer have to take off work to tend to these matters. Thank you Agape Care for all you do for our family.
Burden Lifted
I have a special needs aunt who had always lived with my grandparents. When they died she came to live with me. I did not know what to do since she needed to be looked after while I was at work. Before finding out about Agape Care, I would be worrying that all was fine while I worked. Agape Care has lifted such a burden from my shoulders. Not only has my aunt been cared for, but she has blossomed! Even her brother and sisters are amazed at how much she has improved. The caregivers encouraged her to do new things and had long conversations with her so that she would have interaction that she never had before. My aunt is so much happier and looks forwards to the caregivers coming to look after her. You have so many wonderful caregivers working for you! They do more than is expected and are very friendly and kind. Your services have not only improved my aunt’s life but the whole family’s lives as well. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication. It shows how important your clients are by the way you interact with us in order to meet needs of the clients. I am forever grateful for your services. I have no hesitation to refer your agency to anyone that could use your services. I wish you all many blessings!
(Return to top)Forever Grateful
We are so grateful for the direction and assistance that we received from Agape Care. My Mother-in-Law lived with us and we served as her caregiver(s) during the evening and night time hours so we know what goes into caring for an elderly person who cannot care for themselves. H.S. did an outstanding job, filling in for… no, really taking our place during the day. My Mother-in-Law received that same loving during the day as we attempted to give during the night. Thanks Agape Care! You are not only needed but appreciated.
(Return to top)Thank You For All Your Efforts
Dear Karen,
It seems the thank-you's for the things that mean the most are the most difficult to write. How do we even begin to thank you and your staff for all your efforts on our parents' behalf?! You gave us hope when options were few.
When Holly realized Mom and Dad needed daily assistance with their meals and medications, she rose to the challenge as long as she could, and then you and your staff came to her rescue. Our parents were skeptical going into that arrangement, but your staff quickly won them over.
They read to Mom and turned leftovers into well balanced meals. They cleaned, and they shopped for groceries. They cared! They greeted Holly and me with tears and hugs after, we got bad news from the hospital about Dad's health.
If our needs changed with little or no notice, as was often the case, you and your staff rolled with the punches. Each time we needed any help due to an unforeseen emergency, you were there without question or hesitation. No matter what time of day or what we needed help with, you never failed us once. Even when Mom and Dad's location changed, you still managed to find a way to help when we needed it the most.
Karen, I truly don't know what Holly and I would've done without you this past year. You and your staff are angels. The services you provide, and the care with which you provide them are unbelievable. You kept Holly and I sane, or reasonably so, during the most difficult and painful experience of our lives. It is with tearful eyes and a boat load of gratitude that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

(Return to top)Angels of Agape Care
Dear Angels of Agape Care,
Thank you for the lovely card with your personal note of sympathy. I want you to know how grateful I am for everything you did for my Aunt during the time you knew her. I appreciate each of you, and the wonderful work you do, more than I can say. Knowing that my Aunt was able to be at home, where she wanted to be, because of the caring help you provided was a comfort to me here, and to my family. Thank you, for being so aware of what my Aunt needed and wanted and for knowing which caregivers would be the "perfect match" for her and her circumstances. Thank you, for being the perfect caregivers and for caring so much about both my Aunt and her friend. Thank you, for arranging and re-arranging schedules of caregivers to meet changing needs on short notice as my Aunts health declined. Thank you, for working so hard to coordinate a 24 hour care schedule with Hospice and for your kindness and emotional support to me the night of September 2nd. I have never met any of you in person, but I shall not forget you.
(Return to top)Eternally Grateful
When looking for a service to help my brother, you and your staff showed a great deal of professionalism, compassion, and understanding. You took the time to explain your interviewing process the different levels of services and how you could assist in making daily living less stressful. Although asking and receiving assistance was a difficult decision for my brother, your caregivers built a support with him very quickly and he instantly looked forward to there visits. Under a life-threatening situation over a weekend, you intervened when I had nowhere to turn. The support you have with my brother literally saved his life and for that, I am eternally grateful. Your communication was very important as I coordinated his care from North Carolina. I want to thank you again 10,000 times for all your help.
(Return to top)Exceptional Caregiving
I am writing to let you know that M.M is an exceptional caregiver. She took care of my grandfather a couple weeks ago. She radiated God's love and I can tell that she is doing what she was born to do. She jumped right in and did anything she could to help, including laundry, cleaning, getting drinks for people, etc. She gave hugs and tissues and understood that she was there to care for the whole family as much as grandpa. She read to my grandpa and talked to him even though he was at the point where he could no longer respond. She was an inspiration and I want you to know what a rare treasure you have in her.
(Return to top)Helping with the heavy lifting
Dad had ALS. As time progressed, he was less and less able to care for himself. Dad is a big man, and Mom has arthritis. She also has problems sleeping and is not very strong. She was getting exhausted with all the things she had to do for Dad. For instance, one day when she was helping him get out of the shower, he was wet and slippery and almost fell on the cold hard tile. Mom threw her back out catching him. It was just too much to care for him alone. That's when we decided to get outside help. Now a caregiver comes to the house several times a week to help out and give Dad a bath. That alone is worth its weight in gold! Mom is freed from the hard physical labor and can concentrate on giving him her loving attention. I just wish we had reached out sooner. Getting outside help has been good for both Mom and Dad!
(Return to top)Kind Service for Mom
Thank you so much for all the kind service you have given Mom. Your assistance meant so much as did your encouragement to Mom for her to enjoy her days. You were professional, courteous, and friendly at all times. This meant everything to us. We appreciate you and all you do.
